Hey lovelies…. i hope you enjoyed my special little shoot yesterday, and that you are ready for another beautiful real wedding. On another note, can you believe it’s March already?!!
Nicky and Rebecca were married just after Christmas, in their local village hall, decorated beautifully with twinkling fairy lights and candles. Rebecca looks stunning in her lace gown and feather cape… and i so love the white bridesmaid dresses with their wrist corsages.
This really was one romantic and special day.
Thanks so much to the wonderful Julie Ann Images for submitting her images to me via Two Bright Lights…. enjoy:
Names…. Nicky & Rebecca
Wedding Date…. 29th December 2011
The Proposal…. On Christmas Day 2010. About to leave for church he said I looked perfect but I was missing something. Then surprised me with a beautiful solitaire diamond and asked me to marry him!
The Vision for the day…. Romantic. Vintage. Village Wedding.
The Planning process…. We knew we wanted it in our local church we attend on Sundays and where we’ve had many family weddings and christenings so booked that and worked from there. Decided on the village hall opposite and set about transforming it into a romantic, vintage reception venue using family friends and local suppliers to do this..
Budget…. £10,000
The Venue… Tylers Green Village Hall in Penn and Tylers Green, Buckinghamshire. Totally transformed by completely draping the inside and having candles in every nook and cranny! We collected glass jars pretty much from when we got engaged. Friends and family kept us well stocked by helping out too. We then hand decorated each one with lace and fancy trim to give a vintage look.
The Dress + Accessories….. Dress was Essence of Australia. Dolce satin gown with rose design lace overlay. My veil was borrowed from my sister as was my tiara. My earrings were a 30th birthday present from my best friend and bridesmaid so were my something old! My sister in law hurriedly stitched a blue satin bow into my dress five minutes before getting dressed. I also wore an ostrich feather shawl from sasso brides and a caramel coloured hand made ribbon belt from a local bridal boutique.
Finding the dress…. Many hours spent from one boutique to the next but as soon as I tried my dress on I knew it was the one, especially when it made my mum and sister cry!
Groom’s attire… Hired tails from a villagers shop. Charcoal grey 3 piece suit with ivory cravat. Ushers wore Ivory waistcoats with mocha coloured cravats.
The Readings + Music…. Genesis Chapter 2 read by Groom’s Aunt. During the signing of the register, music was sung by a friend and her guitar. She sang three of our favourite songs…. can’t take my eyes off you by Frankie Valli, still the one by Shania Twain and songbirds by Eva Cassidy. Not a dry eye in the congregation!
Beautiful bridesmaids….. My two best friends Cat and Kelly. Cat had only just given birth to her beautiful boy Teddy on Christmas day but still managed to come and support me AND fit into her bridesmaid dress bought when she wasn’t pregnant! My elder Sister Lindsay and my Bother’s wife Holly. They wore Ivory “breakfast at tiffany’s” style dresses from House of Fraser. My flower girls were my nieces (sisters children) Erin aged 3 and Freya aged 1, who was only just walking in time for her Auntie’s wedding!
The Flowers… Kept it simple with wrist corsages for the bridesmaids, roses and freesias. My mum had freesias for her wedding and I love the scent. I had a beautiful bouquet of roses and freesias, ivory, palest pinks and coffee colours. We had organza bows on the church pews which was plenty as the church was still in all it’s Christmas decoration glory! As centrepieces we bought large peace lillys and white orchids which guests took home with them as favours.
The Cake… Made by a friend. Was rich chocolate cake so we could have it as our pudding. Decorated with roses, doves and lace.
Your Photographer…. Julie Anne Images. Totally amazing woman! We found Julie through my sister as she had a few sessions with them as a family, especially my nieces. Her pictures were just what we were looking for so it was a no brainer as to who we would like to spend our day with and to capture the essence of our special moments.
The Honeymoon…. A short break in London at Claridges. Shopping in the west end sales and dinner at some wonderful restaurants.
Memorable moments… The surprise Horse and Carriage! Not a clue I was having one, a complete surprise thanks to Daddy!!!
The groom’s speech. He’s a shy man and was petrified at the thought of having to make a formal and witty speech. Instead he surprised us all by making a music video to Luther Vandross “A million kisses” (our song) with help from his Best men and Ushers along with family and even a line or two from the Vicar! It had us all in tears and stitches – brilliant.
Our first dance. We couldn’t bear the thought of just swaying from side to side to a mushy love song with everyone watching us so we did something difference. We choreographed a routine to some hip hop and old school classics followed by the electric slide where everyone else joined in – got so many cheers!
