Oh this wedding is sooo gorgeous. Leigh and Emma certainly managed to capture a vintage feel to their winter wedding. Doesn’t Emma look fabulous in her long flowing gown, birdcage veil, red lips and fur coat… wow! And the bridesmaids look amazingggg….

Thanks so much to the wonderful Amor-Amor Photography for sharing her work today, here is what she had to say about the day;

“Leigh is a very quiet caring person, Emma is vivacious and talkative and my only wish as a photographer is to capture this as authentically as possible.

Emma and Leigh had their wedding breakfast and reception at Explosion! Naval Museum in Gosport, Portsmouth.  It is essentially, the biggest bunker I have ever seen!   Adding to the fact it was mid-december and seeing that I’m a natural light gal – I panicked.

With only minimal ambient lighting in the venue I set up a flash with a softbox with remote triggering.  Thankfully, this wasn’t too difficult and I was so pleased with the results.

I adored the feel and look to Emma and Leigh’s day but most of all, I loved how naturally affectionate and comfortable they were in front of the lens.  The venue was warm and intimate, perfect for a winter wedding day!”

The Flowers…

Were handled by a friend who did a fantastic job. I knew I wanted Cezanne roses and left the rest up to her!

The Proposal….

Was perfect! It was a total surprise! We had been on holiday and everyone said Leigh would propose then but I didn’t want to be expecting it. So when we came home un-engaged everyone was surprised. But we went out for dinner at the restaurant that Leigh first ever took me too and went out for a drink afterwards and I started telling Leigh that everyone had thought he would propose but it didn’t matter because I know I will be with him forever so it wouldn’t matter to me if it was in 2 months or 2 years time. And to that he put his hand in his pocket and said ‘Well then all you need is a ring’! He didn’t even get to ask me the question, I had already put the ring on and was hugging him, trying to shed a ladylike tear! He picked the ring all by himself and it was perfect. The boy did good!

The Vision for the day….

Was something a bit different – a vintage feel. We didn’t want it to look or feel like every other wedding we had been to.

The Venue…

Was a true find of Leigh’s! An old Naval Museum in Gosport! The main magazine room was built in the 1700′s and still has original floorboards and brickwork with beautiful arches We also had full use of teh museum for guests so everyone was kept entertained whilst the photo’s were being taken.

The Planning process….

Before I knew it I was looking through wedding magazines! Leighs family were amazing as we only had 5 months between the engagement and the wedding. His mum sorted the cake, his bro the wine and his sister the table decorations! I must say I was totally overwhelmed by all the things that I hadn’t even realised I would need to think about so this extra support really helped!

The Readings + Music….

I walked down the aisle to just some simple orchestral music and our first dance was to Robert Palmer ‘Tender Trap’.

Groom’s attire…

A simple Zara suit, with a tie to match the bridesmaids dresses. The best man Leigh’s brother was in a matching suit with his son 12 year old Jack in a smaller matching version too!

Dress + Accessories…..

I found my dress the first day I went shopping although I tried on a fair few shockers first! I had it in my head that I wanted a red carpet dress! Something you would wear to a Hollywood film premiere! I wanted to feel glamorous and beautiful and the dress was perfect. Accessories were a stunning Kenny Packham bracelet and a birdcage veil that was made for me by the dress shop!

Beautiful bridesmaids…..

I had 4 bridesmaids who were all totally different! I didn’t realise at the time but I think each of them symbolised a different part of my personality! They were in Karen Millen dresses that looked amazing.

Memorable moments…

Being SO excited getting ready! Dancing to our awesome band! Making an amazing wedding video! And leaving through an archway of hands at the end!

The Details + Decor….

All handled by Leigh’s sister who definitely has an eye for detail! We had 6 tables placed around a little sweetheart table for 2 for myself and Leigh in the middle. There was a birdcage with candles in on each table, and the tables were named over places that me and Leigh had travelled to together.

Your Photographer….

She did a friends wedding where I was a bridesmaid so I got to see her at work and was happy with how all of the photos turned out. She came to see the venue with me and took some test shots to figure out lighting etc. We also had an pre-shoot to get us used to being in front of the camera! I have had so many comments on the photos of people saying that when they get married that’s what they want them to look like!

The Honeymoon….

Was a total surprise!!! Leigh planned the whole thing! I wanted an adventure as I get bored spending all day on a beach. So we took the Eurostar to Brussels, had a day and night in Brussels then an overnight train to Vienna, spent the day in Vienna then another overnight train to Transylvania in Romania. I had no idea where I was going until I got on the next train and Leigh would hand me an envelope explaining our next destination!
