Hey lovelies. This will be today’s only feature on {www}, as i am poorly sick with the flu :-( Being the super blogger i am hehe… i have managed to pop on and write up this beautiful wedding to share with you. Fingers crossed for a normal blogging schedule tomorrow….
Fiona and Bobby had a Christmas wedding, which was oh so romantic.
They wanted their day to be “contemporary, simple and elegant with a touch of 1940’s Hollywood glamour” and boy oh boy was it amazing.
The candle lit church, the Christmas carols, the chocolate log, and the stylish feel to this day just sings to my heart. Fiona looks utterly glamorous in her beautiful Issa dress, and i love Bobby’s formal tux.
Thanks so much to the amazing Joanna Millington Photography for sharing her beautiful images with us today, here is what she had to say about the day;
“It was perfect that the year ended, the Saturday before Christmas, with Fiona and Bobby. I had already shot the wedding of Bobby’s brother Ricky earlier in the summer, so I almost felt part of the family (they certainly make you feel like family).
Fiona had always wanted a christmas wedding and that’s exactly what they had – a candlelit church, christmas carols, mulled wine, a tree, turkey and pigs in blankets, and even a flurry of snow. Four locations, each so different from the last, made it such a fun shoot. And the fact that they were just about the nicest people and made me feel such a part of their gorgeous day was the cherry on a vintage year.”
Names… Fiona and Bobby
Wedding Date… Saturday 17 December 2011
The Proposal… Bobby proposed on Christmas Eve 2010 after taking Fiona out for dinner. Just less than a year later they were married.
The Vision for the day… Contemporary, simple and elegant with a touch of 1940’s Hollywood glamour. We also embraced the fact it was Christmas.
The Planning process.. Fiona took the lead on this, as she is naturally more organized, however, they both enjoyed ‘designing’ every aspect of their day, right down to the pine cones which held the place names on the table to the paper stocks which were used for the order of service.
Bobby and Fiona even had their own monogram which was used on all wedding stationery, gift tags and is even tattooed on Bobby’s wrist.
Budget… Modest.
The Venue… We chose Thurne St Edmund Parish Church as Bobby’s parents and grandparents were both married there before us.
We chose Norwich Cathedral’s Hostry and Refectory for the reception. The reason behind this is that Bobby and Fiona work with one another and, before getting together, they both attended a meeting at Norwich Cathedral to discuss a design project for them. On that day, they met Phillip McFadyen and Susie Furnival who became clients of Bobby and Fiona’s business, The Click Design Consultants. Subsequently, both Phillip and Susie became good friends with Bobby and Fiona. Being a priest, Phillip married them and Susie read during the service.
The Dress + Accessories… Issa dress, Karen Millen faux fur shrug, peep-toe shoes and a pearl necklace.
Finding the dress… Fiona knew it was the one as soon as she saw it. She ordered one dress in one size from Net-a-porter.com and it fitted perfectly. She never tried any other dress – even just out of curiosity.
Groom’s attire… Ted Baker tuxedo, fly-button white shirt, silk bow tie and patent black shoes. This was accompanied by a Rado watch, which was a gift from Fiona especially for the wedding day.
The Readings + Music… Readings: 1 Corinthians 13 and Philippians 4: 4-9. Carols: Silent Night, Ding Dong Merrily on High, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Oh Come All Ye Faithful.
Beautiful bridesmaids… Kate, Chloe, Alex and Sarah wore black Coast cocktails dresses with black suede shoes. Their hair was styled with 40’s curls.
The Flowers… The bride’s bouquet was Black Barraca Roses. The bridesmaids carried white tulips. The church was decked with holly and ivy, along with dozens of church candles, which provided a romantic and ambient atmosphere. Also, in the church, were two 8 foot leafless trees, which were sparingly decorated with white baubles and white lights.
The Cake… Fiona designed the cake and Bobby’s Mum (Shirley) made it. It was intended to be simple, understated and contemporary. Inside, it was a beautiful Christmas fruit cake, moist with a healthy amount of alcohol.
Your Photographer… Our photographer, Jo Millington, spent the whole day with us, discretely observing and creating a story with her eagle-eyed lens.
Jo arrived at Bobby and Fiona’s flat at breakfast to spend time with the girls whilst they enjoyed having their make-up and hair done. She then ventured out to the country to join the boys at Bobby’s parent’s cottage before the church service. She was there until the end, capturing the speeches, the wedding breakfast and, of course, the first dance.
First dance… Only You by Yazoo. This is down to Bobby and Fiona’s unhealthy shared obsession and love for Ricky Gervais’ The Office. At the end of the Christmas Special, Dawn and Tim leave together to the sound of this amazing 80’s tune.
The Details + Décor… The colour theme was white with a touch of winter red berries. The décor was natural and simple with a festive twist.
The Honeymoon… We went to Venice the day after the wedding, returning just in time for a family Christmas. We stayed in an amazing suite at the beautiful Ca Segredo on The Grand Canal. Fiona billed this as our ‘Minimoon’ as we’re having a second, longer honeymoon in April when we go to Miami for a week, staying in the Bay View Suite at The Standard.
Memorable moments… For Bobby, it was seeing his beautiful bride walking down the aisle. That is etched on his memory forever.
It wasn’t about specific moments as such, it was how every part of the day seamlessly joined up and was perfect in every way.
Advice for other couples… It’s all about the planning. Organisation, planning and time management is a fundamental part of Fiona’s day job, so we were already on to a winner. Fiona recommends making lists well in advance but, most importantly, enjoying the process of making decisions and creating a bespoke and perfect day. After all, you only do it once.
Anything that needs to be done on the day, make sure you delegate the task. You wont remember!
Thanks so much to Fiona and Bobby for sharing their super beautiful day with us today XOXO Lou
