Welcome to the totally gorgeous Kilmore Country House wedding of WWW readers David and Clare, which was held on the 16th December 2020 in Northern Ireland. Their day was beautifully festive with hints of the Christmas season, but it was also chilled and personal. It turned out to be a really intimate day due to the pandemic and they added some great COVID-friendly touches. Look out for the quiz entertainment for guests (genius!) and social distancing sign. So thoughtful and very stylish.
Talking of style how incredible did David and Clare look?! Wow. Then there were the dramatic flowers, DIY decor and all of the magical lighting. Oh, what a wonderful celebration. Crazy Happy Love, thank you so much for sharing with us these remarkably beautiful images.
Kilmore Country House Wedding
The Proposal
We were together 10 years before we got engaged. Two fur babies and buying our first house came first. David proposed in our home before we headed to the airport for a week long holiday in Barcelona. He had a ring box beside one of our cats and got down on one knee (TMI perhaps but Thor the cat started licking his butt just as I looked over at the ring box!). David picked the most gorgeous sapphire engagement ring and we celebrated all week!
The Vision
We wanted an Autumn themed wedding (our original date was 7th November but covid restrictions got in the way) so our actual day ended up a hybrid of Autumn/ Winter/ Christmas. Lots of ferns (in memory of one of my Grannys). Guinness and Prosecco flute drinks reception.
Budget
We haven’t done a final budget but approx. £15,000.
The Venue
Kilmore Country House, Waterfoot, Co. Antrim. Killer views, chilled out and beautiful venue and the friendliest staff especially Oliver our Wedding Manager.
Your Outfits
Clare – Savin London dress from Forever Bridal in Belfast. First shop I went to. I went in to try on another dress which was lovely but just not “The One”. I tried on this Savin dress and totally fell in love. I loved the train and quality of the dress.
David – Suitors in Belfast. First suit he tried on, loved the quality and thought it was a bit different. He tried on others but just couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The Ceremony & Music
Karen The Celebrant – Humanist
Music – we were only allowed some music at the ceremony and had the legendary Ken Haddock.
Your Photographer & Filmmaker
Crazy Happy Love- Carrie Davenport.
Video – Emma Kirker Video.
The Styling & Decor
Flowers and floral arch by Willow and Twine. Autumn/winter flowers (gorgeous toffee roses), ferns, eucalyptus.
Coffee tier, chocolate orange tier. Cake by Benningtons.
Venue supplied candelabras, post box and mirror.
Another mirror “Til death do us party” by a local tattoo artist – Colin Murphy.
DIY – table names, record player guestbook, gin bottles, place name baubles and signs.
Neon sign from Neon Bespoke on Etsy.
Our table names were names of our family cats.
The Honeymoon
Mini moon due to Covid restrictions but still incredible. Two nights in Lough Eske, Donegal and one night in Bushmills Inn on North Coast of Northern Ireland.
Memorable Moments
Walking down the stairs of Kilmore Country House to my Dad with November Rain by Guns & Roses playing felt epic!
Ken Haddock singing (this was a wedding present from Clare’s twin sister Janette).
Our amazing and very personal ceremony.
The Speeches!
Seeing so many faces after being apart for so long!
Advice For Other Couples
Lockdown restricted weddings CAN be amazing and fun! We are so glad we did it even though it wasn’t what we had originally planned! If you need some fun covid friendly entertainment Speed Quizing NI was so good and kept our guests entertained after a big feed and lots of wine.
Pick vendors who you click with – I had the most chilled morning getting ready as I genuinely felt like my vendors were friends of mine. Ultimate professionals and made us feel at ease.
