Oh Vicky and Micky your dreamy boho nuptials have me hook, line and sinker today. Their day is a cracker and you’ll find it hard to believe that their wedding was held in the middle of the winter in the UK, that folks is a sign of a brilliant photographer. These sun drenched, joy filled shots are provided by Chris Randle and we’re super thankful to be sharing them today.
The pair were wed on the 3rd November 2016 at Healey Barn in Northumberland and they envisaged a bohemian, simple and natural day. I really think that Vicky’s mum has the potential to become a wedding planner, I am sure you will agree when you see the whole of this feature. You see Vicky and Micky were travelling in Australia and so Vicky’s mum planned the wedding for the couple, you can just feel the love poured into their day too. She even surprised everyone with spontaneous singing waiters for a dose of fun entertainment.
The colour scheme was muted neutral shades of whites and greens. The flowers featured greenery and gyspophila, the décor was rustic and wooden and well, the cakes were just out of this world! Then there were the outfits. Vicky chose a boho gown by WWW faves Grace Loves Lace, which featured long sleeves and a striking low back. She added a flower crown and went bare foot for a free spirited look. Micky looked super cool in his mix and match attire, he opted for a floral bow tie and waistcoat combo. Awesome! THE PROPOSAL | Micky proposed to Vicky on their 5 year anniversary in Mooloolaba, Australia. They had spent the day whale watching and swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Sunshine Coast. In the afternoon Vicky and Micky headed back to their hotel to get ready for a dinner. While Vicky was in the shower Micky declared he would be right back as he had to pop out to get something. He placed Vicky’s phone in the bathroom and told her to listen for the phone ringing. Before Vicky had the chance to question him, he was out the door. Vicky put on her nice outfit and make up and awaited the phone call. Eventually it rang and Micky told her to go wait out the front of the hotel for a taxi, he hung op straight away, so Vicky followed his instructions. When she got in the taxi, the driver said ‘I feel like I am taking Cinderella to the ball’ Vicky blushed and asked where they were going. The driver refused to tell her. The taxi pulled up to a Lighthouse at the top a large hill, overlooking the whole town. The driver told Vicky to call Micky to find out where to go. She obliged. When she called Micky, he gave her a series of directions that eventually lead her onto the beach, just at the sun was setting. Pastel colours filled the sky and the beach was deserted. She looked to her left and saw Micky, a table and two chairs on the rocks next to the ocean. Vicky ran over, exclaiming, ‘What are you doing!?’ She was shocked, excited and giddy all at once. As she got closer to the table she saw a bottle of Verve and a little box in the middle of the table. Micky sat her down, poured a glass of champagne and spoke to Vicky about his deep love for her. He got down on one knee, but as he did the champagne glasses fell over leaving the couple covered in bubbly! They both howled with laughter and Micky grabbed her hand and asked ‘Will you marry me?’.
THE VISION | Bohemian, simple and classy, I wanted a down to earth wedding. I didn’t want to wear shoes or have sparkles or bows. I just wanted natural and classy.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Micky and I were travelling Australia in a campervan, so my beautiful mother planned the entire wedding for us! I gave her direction and she planned the most incredible, memorable day for the both of us. The planning did involve a lot of Skype and FaceTime calls, while I was in campsites and cafes!
THE VENUE | Healey Barn, Northumberland.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was made by an incredible company called Grace Loves Lace in Australia. They ship worldwide and sent my dress to England after my measurements were taken at the Gold Coast show room. They specialise in French lace and are such amazing women to work with, they made the process stress free and so exciting.
FINDING THE DRESS | My mum sent me pictures of the dress and I went for a fitting. I went with my man of honour and a good friend. We drank champagne, rose tea and I tired on about six dresses. But I knew straight away which one was mine, I just tried on six for fun!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | We got Micky’s attire from a few different places, the pants were from Topman, the shoes were from Jones in Durham, his shirt was DKNY, the waistcoat from M&S and the bow tie was from a website called TieRoom.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | My 16 year old sister wrote her own poem about Micky, myself and our family. It was the most amazing poem in the entire world and had us all in laughter and tears. My mum and Michael’s mum read out some words of advice, they were a mixture of genuine advice on love and some really funny jokes; ‘Marriage is like a walk in the park, Jurassic Park!’. Everyone loved this and added such a personal touch. The music was the instrumental version of ‘A Thousand Years’ by the Piano Men. It was honestly the most amazing music to walk down the aisle. I didn’t want any words, just emotion and feeling.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Me and Micky travel around the world and have only been home for a few months over the last 6 months so this wedding was so incredibly special and love filled. My perfect bridesmaids are a group of people who have been by my side no matter the distance and time apart. My man of honour was my best friend in the world Jonny, he made my day so special and is like my second husband! I had my sister Sophie, Sarah and Sally-Jayne. These girls were more excited about the big day than me and Micky! They kept the vibe so high and exciting. I couldn’t of asked for better people to be by my side on that day. They all wore different dresses as I wanted them to feel comfortable and beautiful.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Chris Randle. The photography by Chris was an incredible experience in itself. Chris made me and Micky feel so comfortable, happy and excited. Half the time it was as if he wasn’t even there and half the time all my friends and family just wanted to hang out with him! Chris gauged exactly what me and Micky wanted and executed it to perfection. We are so grateful to have had him at our wedding and continue to keep in touch.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | All my mum. She bought old, rusty barrels from eBay, then me and Micky cleaned them all up and my dad turned them into the cake and dessert table! She printed drink coupons, then we made our own boxes and name places with a vintage stamp set and cardboard. We painted old wooden boards with chalkboard paint and made beautiful signs. My aunty dried out lavender from her garden and tied bunches to the chairs with old twine. Everything was very authentic and made with love. Micky’s mum even made her signature ginger cookies and we filled glass jars with them.
THE HONEYMOON | We went to the quietest spot in Ireland for five nights. We had an open fire, way too much red wine, a chess board, no internet, no TV just each other. I was absolutely magical. We finished our Ireland trip off with three nights in Dublin and partied with all our friends.

There is one women in particular that I owe all my gratitude too, my wedding planner. This wedding planner is very opinionated, she is persistent, she always get what she wants (and she drinks on the job), it is my amazing mother. That’s right, my mum planned our entire day and absolutely nailed Every. Single. Detail. Michael and I were travelling Australia in a camper-van and exploring Bali for months leading up to the wedding.
My mother cub, my protector, my soul-sister, my best friend, my pain in the ass put her heart and soul into creating a day for me and Micky to remember for the rest of our lives. Admittedly I had to reign her in every now and again;
‘Vicky, what do you think of an Elvis Presley impersonator?’ NO.
‘Vicky, how about you and Micky break out into a choreographed dance?’ Hell NO.
‘Vicky, what about getting an owl to fly down the centre of the aisle to deliver the rings?’ MUM, this isn’t Hogwarts!
I kept repeating the same two words; NO CHEESE! I wanted simple and elegant. No cheesiness! I even told the DJ that he wasn’t aloud to take song requests from her after the 100th time of her asking if D.I.S.C.O and Hey Baby could be played.
I really thought she had digested the ‘no cheese’ rule until… after dinner one of the waiters fell over causing a massive scene! A few of the other waiters ran over to his aid and started shouting ‘You’ve been drinking again!’, it looked as if the fallen waiter was wasted! I was absolutely mortified, the whole room went silent and watched with dropped jaws while the drunk waiter was dragged out the dining room. The next thing I remember is the same waiters come running back into the room with music blasting and microphones in their hands! The exclaimed they are the Singing Waiters and have been planted here by the mother and father of the bride. Within minutes the whole party are stood on the chairs signing ‘Sweet Caroline’ and ‘New York, New York’. I looked at my mother who was in hysterics laughing, she shouted at me; ‘I told you I would get a bit of cheese in this wedding!’. It was absolutely brilliant and lifted the vibe of the day to new heights.
