This chic wedding is right up my street, simple muted tones, elegant décor and a super loved up pair of newly-weds.
WWW readers Laura and Michael decided to get married on the 27th February 2016 at the magnificent Romsey Abbey followed by a magical reception at The Tithe Barn in Hampshire. The vision was clear from the start; a beautiful intimate ceremony followed by a rustic reception. I just have to start by saying that the buildings they chose to hold their wedding in were just incredible and made for a really memorable setting I am sure.
Then there was the impeccable style, with Michael looking very dapper in his velvet tux teamed with bow tie and the bridesmaids donning silvery grey long dresses. Laura opted for a romantic gown accessorised with simple veil and gorgeous wavy hair. Eekkk so beautiful!
Thanks so much to Jason Williams Photography for sharing these really rather epic images today.
THE PROPOSAL | 21/04/2014
THE VISION | The large and loud traditional engagement ceremony followed by a beautiful intimate wedding, with a rustic personal reception. We definitely wanted to get married in the Abbey!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We spent almost a year planning everything, kept changing our minds about little details! Definitely a glass of wine every time we got to something concrete.
THE VENUE | Romsey Abbey for the wedding, and Tithe Barn Hampshire for the reception.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was a hard choice and Laura actually ended up meeting with the designer who then helped tailor it to her specifications.
FINDING THE DRESS | Searched so many stores, and happened upon a little boutique!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Laura and had been going on and on about this velvet tuxedo she had envisioned her future husband to wear. Well Laura gets what Laura wants.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Readings: “Be completely humble and gentle; Be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.”-
Ephesians 4:2-3
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Laura’s entry was Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel and our exit was Toccata in F from Fifth Symphony.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Laura’s sister Lois, Michael’s sister Teddy, Emma and Catrin.
THE FLOWERS | Handmade by Laura and her Ma.
THE CAKE | A great find by Laura’s Ma!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The one and only Jason Williams, who really goes above and beyond to capture the moment.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | All hand decorated by Laura’s Ma.
THE HONEYMOON | Cyprus in the Kyma suites of Almyra, a lovely surprise from Michael.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Michael jumping the question during the ceremony and shouting I do before Canon Sledge had finished asking! All the speeches! And being sung into my father daughter dance.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Make sure you steal a few minutes away for just yourselves, and take some cake and extra dessert too.
